Update as of 2nd July 2020.
Email received from MC below lists the MCA approved providers….
NOTE: This is the list of UK MCA approved centres. If you are wanting to do a UK MCA approved assessment in order to obtain the UK MCA Ships Cook Certificate then these are the centres they have approved. I will post an update on other flag state ships cook certificate info as and when I get them. Some flag states are already listed on this site and what their requirements are regarding ships cooks. Please refer to those pages.

Subject: RE: Please moderate: “Which are the MCA approved Centres for doingthe Assessment in Marine cookery?”
Bluewater Florida have never been approved to run the assessment in marine cookery.
They may well have an approval to run a Food and Hygiene course from an organisation whose certificates the MCA will accept towards a ships cook CoC (please see Min 605 for further details of accepted food and hygiene certificates). However, we only “accept” such certificates we do not “approve” any food and hygiene courses. Any certificates issued for food and hygiene should have the name of the approving body (i.e. city and guilds etc.) and there should be no mention of the MCA on these certificates.
With regards to the assessment in marine cookery, at the present time the following are approved by the MCA:-
- Leiths school of food and wine (replaced Tante Marie)
- City of Glasgow College
- Entier Limited
- Dumfries & Galloway
Undertaking re approval at this time are:-
Secrets de Cuisine
South Tyneside College
I hope the above helps

Examiner of Masters and Mates
Seafarer’s Training and Certification Branch.
