Note: Not all flag states require you to complete the Marine Cookery Assessment as each have their own criteria for yachts registered under their flag.

WE RECOMMEND YOU CONTACT YOUR HOME COUNTRY’S MARITIME AUTHORITY FIRST TO FIND OUT HOW TO GET THEIR OWN SHIPS COOK CERTIFICATE FIRST!

Then if they will not issue you with one look at other options.

Here are some centres around the world who offer the marine cookery assessment and which flags accept the assessment towards the Ship’s Cook Certificate.

Note: these are not currently approved by UK MCA so if you do an assessment with these currently the UK MCA will not issue you with an MCA SCC but you can use them to work on the flags listed under each.

NOTE: If you have a chef culinary qualification that covers basic classic french cookery training in its syllabus then take a look at applying directly to the Cayman Is and get their RECOGNITION AS A SHIPS COOK LETTER which is accepted on many flags (not UK MCA)
