Does the UK MCA Ships Cook Certificate need revalidating after 5 years?
Thanks to chef Tamara for the question.. “do I need to re-sit or revalidate my MCA issued ships cook certificate after 5 years?”
So we contacted the MCA and good news is you dont have to.. phew!!
THE SHIPS COOK CERTIFICATE DOESNT EXPIRE! .. currently anyway!
Here is their reply:
Dear Efrem
Thank you for your e-mail. Ship’s Cooks COC’s do not need revalidating after 5 years as currently there is no expiry date. Naturally, some of the STCW Basic Training Certificates will need refreshing, for example, Personal Survival Techniques and Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards
Denise
